The Club
Gloucester Canoe Club has been active since at least the 1960s. Originally concentrating on whitewater and slalom the club had a number of bases around Gloucester including The Docks, Sandhurst and Maisemore, In 2013 we were invited to relocate to our current site at Hempsted Meadows, a new hub for Rowing and Canoeing in Gloucester. At the same time the decision was made to merge with another local canoe club ADJ who mainly did touring with some racing.
Who We Are
We are a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) and affiliated to Paddle UK (formerly British Canoeing). We are a club run entirely by volunteers, run by paddlers for paddlers. Members are encouraged to get involved in all aspects of the club especially social activities and we look for help twice a year to run our two races. The more you put into the club the more you can get out of it.
Our Facilities
Now sharing a big boathouse, by the Gloucester – Sharpness canal, with several rowing clubs (with changing rooms, showers, toilets, a gym & a kitchen area), we cater mainly for 3 paddling disciplines (with some of us doing a bit of all 3) white water, touring & marathon/racing. Thus by joining GCC you get membership of three clubs in one! Please see the information page for each section for more details of what each does. Each section now has it’s own Vice Chair.

Different sections will run different activities at different times throughout the year. We also run pool sessions monthly most of the year, which all new members are asked to attend at least once.
